The Education Committee is responsible for decision-making concerning the Education Division’s duties.
The City Council appoints the Education Committee’s members and deputies for the City Council’s period of office. These members must include at least two representatives of the Finnish-speaking language group and the Swedish-speaking language group each.
The Education Committee has 13 members. Each member has a personal deputy member. The Committee is chaired by the Deputy Mayor for Education.
